A Medicinal Blend, Made From Nature

The world of spices is vast and varied, providing an overwhelmingly large selection of flavours, colours and aromas. There is another element to spices; the health benefits.

We at To9 Herb & Spice have come across many customers that have looked for an easy, natural way to improve and maintain their health. Spices can certainly play a role. Every spice has multiple names and culinary uses, and very importantly, many spices offer properties that may support general health. Whether it's taking sustained doses of a few individual spices, or mixing into a special blend, when done correctly and responsibly, spices can absolutely support your overall wellbeing.

This blog aims to showcase and explain one particular blend of spices; the Muti Mix.

Our To9 Muti (Medicine) Mix has become one of our most popular spice blends. This blend was crafted to combine spices traditionally associated with wellness support; each ingredient adding a particular value to the whole.

Here is a quick breakdown

Turmeric

Turmeric is a vibrant golden spice derived from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, traditionally used for centuries in Indian and Ayurvedic practices. Known for its warm, earthy flavour and rich colour, turmeric is most often associated with its natural anti-inflammatory properties and general support for digestion, joint health and overall wellbeing.

Its role in our Muti Mix: Turmeric forms the foundational core of the blend, providing broad wellness support and acting as the primary functional ingredient.

Ginger

Ginger comes from the root of the Zingiber officinale plant and has been widely used across many cultures, both in cooking and traditional wellness practices. Its warm, slightly spicy character is often associated with digestive support, circulation, and helping the body feel warmed and balanced.

Its role in our Muti Mix: Ginger adds digestive support while complementing turmeric with its warming, stimulating properties.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon, derived from the inner bark of cinnamon trees, has been treasured for centuries for both its comforting aroma and traditional wellness uses. Depending on the variety, it offers sweet warmth and has often been associated with blood sugar balance and antioxidant support.

Its role in our Muti Mix: Cinnamon brings balance to the blend, softening the sharper spices while contributing its own traditional wellness benefits.

Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper is made from dried, ground chilli peppers and is known for its bold heat. Traditionally, cayenne has been associated with circulation support and metabolic stimulation, making it a popular ingredient in warming wellness blends.

Its role in our Muti Mix: Cayenne acts as an energising component, adding heat while helping make the blend feel active and invigorating.

Black Pepper

Black pepper comes from dried peppercorns harvested from the Piper nigrum vine. Beyond its familiar sharp flavour, black pepper is especially valued because it may help improve the absorption of certain beneficial compounds—particularly turmeric’s active components.

Its role in our Muti Mix: Black pepper acts as the enhancer, helping the body make better use of the blend’s key ingredients while adding depth and warmth.

While each ingredient in our Muti Mix brings its own unique qualities to the blend, the true beauty lies in how they work together. From the warmth of ginger and cayenne, to the grounding richness of cinnamon, the vibrant power of turmeric, and the absorption-supporting role of black pepper, this blend was carefully crafted with purpose.

As with all natural wellness products, consistency, moderation, and personal responsibility are key. Natural ingredients can be a wonderful addition to a healthy lifestyle, but they are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

If you’ve been looking for a simple, flavourful, and natural way to incorporate these well-loved spices into your daily routine, our To9 Muti Mix offers exactly that.

Available now at To9 Herb & Spice, De Handelspost Centre, Hartbeespoort.

Important usage information

Our Muti Mix can be easily incorporated into your daily routine - whether stirred into your morning coffee or tea, added to muesli or oats, or mixed into warm water for simple consumption.

Because this is a concentrated spice blend, small daily amounts are recommended. As a general guideline, we suggest no more than 1 teaspoon per day for adults. For children, significantly smaller amounts are advised, and parental discretion should always be used. As with any wellness-focused product, moderation is important. Excessive or prolonged consumption of concentrated spices may not be suitable for everyone.

Please note: To9 Herb & Spice is not a medical practice, and we are not licensed medical professionals. This blend is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.

If you are:

  • currently taking prescription or chronic medication,

  • pregnant or breastfeeding,

  • managing a serious health condition,

  • or considering giving this blend to children,

we strongly recommend consulting a qualified healthcare professional before use, to ensure the ingredients are appropriate for your individual circumstances.
